The Cayuga is one of the most beautiful domestic duck breeds you can raise, and Twin Ponds Farm is proud to offer hatching eggs from our healthy, farm-raised flock. Named after Cayuga Lake in New York, this heritage breed turns heads with striking black plumage that shimmers with iridescent green and purple in the sunlight.

Why Cayugas?
Cayugas are a dual-purpose breed valued for both egg production and meat. Extremely docile and easy to handle, they’re a wonderful choice for families and first-time duck owners. Cold hardy and well-suited to Virginia’s variable seasons, they thrive with minimal fuss — though they do require daily access to water for swimming.
Their eggs are a conversation starter on their own. The dark, almost charcoal-colored shells produced early in the laying season are unlike anything most people have seen, making them a unique addition to any hatching project or breeding program.
Hatching eggs are collected fresh from our flock at Twin Ponds Farm & Nursery in Lawrenceville, VA. Available by the single egg or by the dozen. Local pick-up and shipping available.

Fertility & Hatch Rates — We regularly monitor fertility in our breeding pens; however, hatch rates cannot be guaranteed. Variables beyond our control — including transit handling, x-ray screening, incubation methods, and temperature exposure during shipping — can all affect hatchability.
Shipping Risks — Every order is carefully packaged to minimize damage, but eggs may still be subject to rough handling, temperature fluctuations, and carrier delays during transit. These factors may impact results.
Liability — Once eggs are accepted by the shipping carrier, all risk transfers to the buyer. Twin Ponds Farm is not responsible for loss, damage, or delivery delays after shipment.
Insurance & Claims — All shipments include $100 of carrier insurance. If your order value exceeds this amount, additional insurance is available at checkout and is the buyer’s responsibility to purchase. Any claims for lost or damaged packages must be filed directly with the carrier by the buyer.
No Refunds or Replacements — Due to the perishable and unpredictable nature of hatching eggs, all sales are final. No refunds, credits, or replacements will be issued.
