Red Burgundy — As eye-catching as it is delicious, Red Burgundy okra produces stunning deep red pods on equally striking burgundy-tinted stems. This edible variety is perfect for frying up crispy, golden batches, pickling into tangy snacks, or slow-stewing into a rich gumbo. The pods hold their tenderness well when harvested young, and the plants add a gorgeous ornamental quality to any garden row.

Long Pod Perkins — When you want okra by the basketful, Long Pod Perkins delivers. This highly productive variety produces generous 7 to 9 inch pods with a rich, robust flavor that stands up to bold seasonings and hearty cooking methods. A tireless producer through the hottest months, Long Pod Perkins keeps you harvesting all summer long when picked regularly.

Both varieties are heat lovers that feel right at home in Southern Virginia’s warm, humid summers. The more you pick, the more they produce, making okra one of the most rewarding crops you can grow from midsummer through early fall.

All starts are nursery-grown at Twin Ponds Farm & Nursery in Lawrenceville, VA. Available in a 4″ pot or in 4-cell and 6-cell trays for gardeners planting in quantity. This product is pick-up only at the farm.
